Tip 1 – Topic

It is very important that you have a clear understanding of what you are going to write about. While the subject is a wider notion, the title and thesis statement are more specific ones. Probably, you will need some background reading to be able to formulate your topic and your thesis statement. Try to choose a topic that interests you, this will make the further work much easier.

Tip 2 – Essay Outline

After you have read enough information and you have an idea of your future paper in your mind, it is just the time to create an outline of your paper – it is a skeleton that will keep your paper together, so it is worth spending some time to think it over. The main parts of your paper are introduction, body and conclusion.

In the introduction, you can give some general information about the subject of your paper. In several sentences, tell the reader what you are going to write about. Your thesis information is the main idea of your paper.

The body is the biggest part of your paper. Here, present your arguments and evidence to support your main idea. Divide the body into paragraphs and make sure that your ideas are consistent with the thesis statement. Unite your paragraphs with the help of parenthetical words.

In conclusion, sum up your findings. Here, you can also express your own attitude to the subject of your paper. Like conclusion, this part should not be too long.

Tip 3 – Format

Formatting is very important, too. It does not take much time to format a ready paper, but proper formatting will add some points to your grade. The only piece of advice here is to follow your teacher’s instructions. If you are not sure how to format your paper according to APA, MLA, Harvard or any other style, you can always find this information online with examples. Make sure you have formatted the citations appropriately, do not forget about the font, spaces and margins.

Just have some practice, and choosing a topic, writing an essay outline and formatting your paper will never be a problem again!
